Computer Science
In Computing we equip pupils to use computational thinking and creativity, to view and understand new methods of breaking down complex problems and change the way they look at the world.
Computing is a vocabulary rich, and we use sequenced accessible lessons to create a knowledge rich curriculum that helps students learn the technical terminology and skills required to make flexible and adaptable modern Computer Scientists.
Computing has deep links with mathematics, science, and design and technology, and provides insights into both natural and artificial systems. The core of computing is computer science, in which pupils are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work, and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. Building on this knowledge students are equipped to use a range of tools to create a number of projects related to real world scenarios and problems showcasing a diverse set of practical skills and computational methodologies.
Computing also ensures that pupils become digitally literate – able to use, and express themselves and develop their ideas through, information and communication technology – at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a growing digital world. Computing lessons featuring practical real-world examples as the basis for tasks and theory to help students apply their learning to become more well-rounded digital citizens.
