Curriculum

At Stoke Park we ensure that the curriculum is broad and balanced and prepares our students to be effective participants in the 21st century. As an inclusive school we aim to meet the needs of all pupils rather than a ‘one size fits all’ model. Without naming the different pathways in such a way that labels and pigeonholes students, we offer option courses and qualifications that meet the needs of pupils of different academic abilities. Our aim is to produce successful learners who enjoy learning, make progress and achieve. Our students' academic excellence will be complimented by being responsible, healthy citizens who value equality and respect diversity whilst being fully equipped to make a positive contribution to society.

Our three-year Key Stage Three (KS3) curriculum consists of English, Maths, Science, PE, Humanities, MFL, Classics and Create and Perform. Humanities consists of History, Geography and RE. Create and Perform consists of Music, Art, Resistant Materials, Food, Textiles and Computing. PHSE, Citizenship, SMSC, RE and Careers Education is taught throughout and within all subjects including through our pastoral programme. Pupils choose options at the end of year 9. English, Maths, Science and History/Geography are compulsory. Pupils then have the opportunity to choose between 11 options.

Every year the curriculum offer is formally scrutinised by Governors and Senior Leaders and suggestions made for improvements or necessary amendments as a result of a changing cohort or government agenda, where we feel it is appropriate for our students.
