House Activities - This week has seen the start of our Deal or No Deal competitions, our first big event of the year. On Thursday Rhiann in sixth form held her nerve and won 275 house points for Eagle. Lynx did not fair so well on Friday, falling foul of the banker and only walking away with 50 house points. Pupils need to make sure that next week if they are invited they are giving as much support as possible to their houses, so Eagle, Phoenix and Griffin make sure you get to the hall next week at lunch!!
Sport - This week’s football saw the year 11 team travel to a very strong Cardinal Newman side who eventually showed their superiority, although there was a time in the game when it looked like Stoke were on top. Excellent resilience shown from the boys to carry on, even when the going became very tough. Man of the match was Ryan Duggins. On Wednesday, the year 10 team took on Ernesford Grange and managed to score deep into injury time to secure a 1-1 draw. Man of the match was Lewis Walker, who scored the dramatic equlaiser to cap off a solid performance. Mr Grimwood has also pointed out the performances of Kristian Adlard, Waqas Hussain and Prince Dadson were impressive.
The Y11 rugby team played WMG on Thursday but found their opponents well drilled and too hot to handle, despite a battling performance by the boys. George Watkins scored Stoke’s only try.
Netball training has been very well attended as of late and teams will be announced soon to participate in all of the fixtures that are coming up. Make sure that if you want to be a part of any of the school’s sports teams that you attend training and show your commitment.
STEM events held in Science this week have been excellently delivered by Dr N. Barker from Warks Univ. Over 50 students have been able to take part.
