Introduction to the department

Welcome to the Stoke Park Art department, a dynamic and stimulating environment where you will learn a broad and varied curriculum. High achievement is encouraged through an engaging programme of high quality teaching and learning. We expect all students to do their very best as they explore, develop and refine new skills, ideas and experiences.

Students receive a high level of individually tailored support from a skilled team of teachers, support staff and professional practitioners. Students are given the opportunity to express themselves creatively through independent learning, practical application, teamwork and reflection. We also prepare our students for the future by addressing issues relevant to their personal, social and moral development.

Key Stage 3 curriculum offering

At Key Stage 4 we follow AQA GCSE Fine Art which involves working in drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, mixed media and sculpture and we also encourage the use of digital photography in many projects. Students work on a number of projects over a two year period, two of which are submitted for examination amounting to about 45 hours of work.

Over the last five year period, results at GCSE have been outstanding, and sustained, with 100% A*-C 89.9% 2014, 100% A*-C 2013, 89% A*-C 2012 and 100% A*-C 2011. These are well above the national average pass rate.
