STOKE PARK SCHOOL STUDENTS BELIEVE THEY CAN ACHIEVE AS THEY STRUTT THEIR STUFF FOR CHARITY!
For the past five years, the pupils of Stoke Park School in Dane Road, Coventry have taken to the runway in order to raise money for their sister school, Bright Future School in Uganda. This year, on Tuesday 11th July, the students from year 7 through to year 12 excelled themselves and put on a show stopping performance to an audience of 240 people. The show raised a staggering £1062 for the charity which is a new record.
Local shops around the city were very generous and donated clothes for the pupils to model on the catwalk including: Select in the Precinct, Oxfam Bridal Wear on Walsgrave Road and Skopes Menswear in West Ochards, who even tailor made dapper suits for the year 10 boys to model. The students showcased an incredible array of talents from ballet, jazz, modern and traditional Indian dance, right through to singing and live music performances. Over the course of 10 weeks, the pupils worked incredibly hard to polish up their acts in order to help those less fortunate.
A selection of students and teachers from Stoke Park headed over to Uganda on Thursday 13th July where the money was presented to the school directly. This year the money will help to fund a second hand mini bus to ensure the Bright Future students can get to school without the usual 2 hour walk.
Miss McDonald said: “We are TeamSP and we are proud to make a difference. Well done to all of the pupils involved – you were incredible and a huge thank you to Skopes Menswear, Select and Oxfam for your ongoing generosity.”
